Discover Reyes Market

If you're looking for a cozy and flavorful spot to grab a bite in Carpinteria, CA, look no further than Reyes Market. Nestled at 4795 Carpinteria Ave, this family-owned gem offers more than just great food; it’s an experience that reflects the true essence of a neighborhood diner. With a reputation built on delicious, homey meals and a welcoming atmosphere, Reyes Market stands out as a must-visit for both locals and visitors.

The minute you step into Reyes Market, you’re welcomed by the comforting smell of freshly cooked meals. The restaurant’s menu is a perfect blend of classic diner favorites and local ingredients, making each dish feel both familiar and special. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a satisfying lunch, there’s something for everyone.

For breakfast, you can’t go wrong with their famous eggs and bacon plate. The eggs are cooked just the way you like them, and the crispy bacon is the perfect balance of salty and savory. The pancakes, light and fluffy, are another crowd-pleaser that’ll transport you straight to comfort food heaven. If you're looking for something a bit more adventurous, the chilaquiles, a dish with deep Mexican roots, offer a spicy kick that pairs wonderfully with a side of beans.

When lunchtime rolls around, the options at Reyes Market continue to impress. The sandwiches here are stacked high with fresh ingredients. Try the classic turkey club sandwich-layered with crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and perfectly roasted turkey. The grilled cheese, served alongside a bowl of rich tomato soup, is another winning combination that keeps customers coming back for more. For those craving something a bit heartier, their burgers are juicy, cooked to perfection, and topped with all the fixings.

Reyes Market is also known for its freshly made sides, such as seasoned fries and creamy coleslaw. These sides provide the perfect balance to the main dishes, adding extra flavor and texture to every bite. And, if you're lucky enough to visit on a day when they’re serving homemade pies, be sure to save room for dessert. The fruit pies, especially the apple and peach varieties, are made fresh daily and offer the ideal sweet ending to any meal.

But what truly makes Reyes Market special isn’t just the food-it’s the community. The friendly staff creates a warm environment that feels like home, and many customers are regulars who come not just for the food but for the familiar faces and easy-going vibe. There’s a certain charm to dining here, as you get to enjoy good food while feeling like you’re part of something larger-an inviting neighborhood spot that brings everyone together.

One of the best parts about dining at Reyes Market is its convenient location. Situated on Carpinteria Ave, it’s easily accessible whether you're heading into town for the day or stopping by after a visit to the beach. The area itself is calm and welcoming, making it the perfect setting for a laid-back dining experience. Whether you’re enjoying a solo meal, having a family breakfast, or meeting up with friends for lunch, Reyes Market offers a welcoming space to relax and enjoy great food.

While there are many dining options in the Carpinteria area, Reyes Market’s blend of flavorful dishes, friendly service, and community atmosphere set it apart. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth stopping by to enjoy the authentic, down-to-earth experience that Reyes Market offers.

  • After trying out many of the local Latin food establishments in town, including one recommended a couple of times, Reyes Market is hands down the most authentic Latino food in Carpinteria. They lived up to the hype, and the food was beyond delicious. This is family owned and operated. The staff is always very kind, and professional in keeping the tables clean and making sure you have everything you need and your order is right the first time. No I'm not related lol, I'm actually new to the area. They serve breakfast all day and the lunch/dinner entrees honestly taste just like homemade food. Reyes Market is also a small neighborhood store for the Latino community where you find food, drinks, and snacks from Latin America. I moved here from Colorado. The only place I ate at this good was actually in New Mexico. Sorry Colorado.

  • The marketplace is a fun place to windowshop while waiting for your food. You need to be able to read Spanish to read the menu, but they do have an English version on their website. Friendly people, and the food is cheaper than a fast food joint. The double burger is delicious, messy, and too big to finish. The fries are frozen but perfectly cooked. Tacos are huge, tasty, and made with fresh ingredients. My fiance thinks that their chicken tacos are better than most of the "gourmet" places in the area.

  • Authentic and delicious. Good price. Has lots of market groceries in the restaurant. Birria is a Mexican dish from the state of Jalisco. It is a traditional ancestral soup or stew made from a combination of chili pepper-based goat meat adobo, garlic, cumin, bay leaves, and thyme, and cooked at a low heat. Birria is slow-stewed in a pot.

  • Fantastic taqueria with the best tamales (Rajas, chicken, pork, vegetable) in the area during Christmas time. There are tables inside and out to eat there. I also really enjoy their burritos.

  • Burritos are very good (and large). People inside are very nice. Market is very cute. Thank you. The green salsa is amazing and not too spicy. Also like the pico de gallo.

  • Authentic Flavor & Thoughtful Accommodation! Reyes Market is an essential Carpinteria institution. I had a SUPERB Bean, Rice, and Cheese Burrito here yesterday-the definition of a perfect, comforting burrito. As a vegetarian, finding an establishment that maintains traditional, high-quality standards for authentic Mexican food while successfully meeting dietary needs (specifically, offering lard-free beans) can be a major challenge. Reyes Market excels at this balancing act. The service is always friendly, the food is authentic, and their ability to successfully cater to both the local Latino community and specific dietary preferences truly sets them apart. I have no personal or professional connection to the business—I am simply a grateful customer who recognizes and supports outstanding local quality and thoughtfulness. Highlv recommended!
